So, you’ve got your signage and now you’re thinking.. “How do I actually hang this thing up?” Don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’ve got you covered with our no nonsense guide to mounting methods across fences, posts and walls which will keep your message secure and your branding impossible to miss.

Mounting Options for PVC Banners

Made from sturdy 440gsm PVC, these banners are designed to withstand even the unpredictable British weather. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor displays, PVC banners come with eyelets spaced every 50cm around the edges, giving you lots of flexibility to attach them to walls, stands, fences, or railings.

1. Zip Ties (Cable Ties)

  • Why it works: Zip ties offer a secure, weather-resistant hold and are easy to put up and take down
  • How to use them: Simply thread the zip ties through the banner's eyelets and attach them securely to your chosen surface.
  • Pro tip: Keep the zip ties snug but not too tight, as over-tightening can damage the banner.

2. Bungee Cords

  • Why it works: Bungee cords allow some give, letting your banner flex in the wind without tearing.
  • How to use them: Feed the bungee cords through the grommets and wrap them around the fence or stand, securing the cord back to itself or the structure.
  • Pro tip: Use adjustable bungee cords so you can tweak the tension as needed.

3. Nylon Rope

  • Why it works: Nylon rope is durable and weather-resistant, and you can adjust the tension to fit your setup..
  • How to use it: Thread the rope through the grommets, then tie it tightly to a fence or railing using secure knots like a bowline.
  • Pro tip: Opt for a thicker rope in windy areas for added durability.

4. Banner Clips

  • Why it works: These heavy-duty clips grip your banner without putting stress on the grommets.
  • How to use them: Clip onto the banner's edge, then attach the clips to a fence or other surface. Some clips come with hooks or carabiners for easy fastening.
  • Pro tip: Space the clips evenly to prevent sagging or uneven tension.

5. Screws

  • Why it works: Screws offer the most solid and permanent attachment for banners, particularly on brick walls.
  • How to use them: Mark where you want the screws, drill holes into the wall, place washers to protect the surface, then secure the banner with screws through the eyelets.
  • Pro tip: Since screws leave marks, choose a location where the banner can stay up long-term for multiple uses.

Mounting Options for Signage

Whether you’re dealing with Correx, Foam, Aluminium, or Cardboard signs, these lightweight and durable display options don’t require any special expertise to install. Here’s how to make it easy:

1. Fences & Walls

  • Why it works: Drilled holes in the corners or edges of your sign let you easily attach it to a variety of surfaces with screws or ties.
  • How to do it: Aluminium & Foam signs can come supplied with drilled holes in the corners. Simply thread through your cable tie or bungee cord and wrap them around the fence or railing. You can also use screws to attach these signs to walls using a drill & drill bit (make sure to use a wash to prevent damage to your wall).
  • Pro tip: Use heavier-duty ties or thicker cords for aluminium signs to keep them firmly in place.

2. Ceiling Suspension

  • Why it works: This is a simple, flexible method for signs that need to be swapped out frequently.
  • How to do it: Slide a ceiling hanger or ceiling clip through the support of your ceiling grid. Thread a double hook suspension wire through the clip and then through the drilled holes in your sign. If your sign doesn’t have drilled holes, use a panel support that will grip securely to the edge of your sign without puncturing the design.
  • Pro tip: Always check the weight limit for your ceiling hanging kit to ensure it’s safe for your sign.

3. Attaching to Poles & Posts

  • Why it works: These options give you the flexibility to move your signs around and adjust their height as needed.
  • How to do it: Drill holes in the top and bottom of your sign, then, simply thread zip ties through the holes and around the post, then tighten to secure in place. For Aluminium or more long-lasting signage, pipe post brackets are a sturdy method to attach a sign to a lamp post. Here, you simply place the semi-circle side of the bracket around the pole, then screw together to secure your sign in place.
  • Pro tip:  Check your local authorities website before attaching signs to public lamp posts as there are restrictions, if you are advertising outside of your premises.

In Conclusion

Choosing the right mounting method doesn’t have to be a headache. Remember, the goal is to keep your signage secure & your message clear. So, zip tie it, bungee cord it, or screw it in – just make sure it’s hanging where everyone can admire your handiwork.
