During your instantprint journey, you’ll interact with a lot of our team, from the Studio team who check your artwork to the expert printers who bring your designs to life. That’s why we’ve shone the spotlight on a few of the faces behind the scenes – so you can get to know a little bit more about them.
We spoke to Kellie, one of our Experienced Artworkers, to find out what her role involves on a day-to-day basis, how she helps answer your artwork queries and what she gets up to in her free time.

When did you start working at instantprint?
I first started working at instantprint on 22nd January 2018. I heard about the job through a friend who works here (Conor in Customer Services). He highly recommended instantprint and told me that I’d love it here. (He was right!)

What does your role involve?
I’ve just started a new role within the company after the Christmas break so I’m still getting to grips with this exciting change.
My new official job title is Experienced Artworker, but as I’m coming from a customer service background, I can also assist the team with customer-related queries.
My day-to-day work is quite varied and includes checking artwork against instantprint’s unique 10 point check and replying to artwork related queries via email. I also help in the other customer-facing departments.
-
How does your role fit into the journey of an instantprint customer's print?
Our customers can send their artwork to us via email, either finished or ready to be set up for print – which is one of the small changes we’re able to make – and they also get in touch with artwork-related queries. I’m a part of the team that will update their artwork, making sure it’s ready for print, or answer their questions.

What makes you proud about working for instantprint
We have a strong team dynamic here, everyone is super friendly and goes out of their way to help each other. I feel like this is something that sets instantprint apart.

What's your favourite project that you've worked on so far?
I’ve really enjoyed helping to shape the way that our Personal Artwork team and Customer Service team work together to interact with customers and make their experience better.
This included creating a call back system where our customers could request a call back to place their orders in set time slots. This would then be logged by the Personal Artworkers and then sent to me. I then call the customers back during their chosen time slots and assist them in placing their order over the phone.
Not only does this help take pressure off the other teams, but it also makes ordering print online a lot more convenient for our customers.

Tell us about your downtime hobbies or a random fact about yourself
My downtime hobbies mainly include gaming or reading. I’m a big fan of Sheffield author Matt Haig; his book ‘Notes on a Nervous Planet’ is one of my favourites. I’m a Playstation4 gamer and streamer. I’m currently playing through Overwatch and Spyro the Dragon!
I also love being outdoors, and finally learnt to snowboard last year! Although it came with its share of bruises and embarrassing moments… (I may have knocked over a small child… you have no proof.)
I love animals and I have two leopard geckos called Ellie and Aloy. Both of them are named after video game characters (Ellie from The Last of Us and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn). Ellie is lazy and enjoys napping in Jurassic corner (a corner of her tank covered in plants) and Aloy loves to climb on things and hunt. I also love the outdoors and learnt to snowboard last year! I love animals and I have two leopard geckos.

Tell us about a standard day in the instantprint office for you
Because I come from a customer service background, I can bring my knowledge of delivery turna-rounds and processes and apply it to working in the Studio team. This allows us to be as clear as possible with our customers and eliminate any confusion as to when their orders will arrive. This is a question that we get asked a lot as we are the last point of contact before their order goes to print.
I’m very flexible in my role, and will move around between the different areas of the artwork team depending on each team’s workload.
A standard day for me involves being a bridge between our customers, their designers and our Artwork team. I can then pass all of the necessary information onto our Artwork team to make sure that every one of our customers gets a proof that they are excited to receive.
Another day-to-day task for me is assisting our customers with any issues that themselves or our Artwork team have found with their artwork, and assist them in getting their designs print ready and perfect for their needs.
I always do my best to spread a smile through the office and to leave our customers feeling happy and confident that they will receive a product that they are proud of.

What do you enjoy most about working at instantprint?
I love the people. We have a great team who make working here fun. Everyone really cares about their roles and how we can improve and that motivates me to set my own goals.
I also love that we interact with each other outside of the workplace during team bonding days and game nights. It really helps us to strengthen our relationships and gel as a team. For our last team bonding day, we went to an escape room in Sheffield, which allowed us to mix with people who work in other areas of the business who we don’t often get to mix with. And we had loads of fun!
Myself and Harry on the Customer Service team also host regular game nights where we can relax and members of different teams can get to know each other. (The last time we did this, friend-ships were tested on Mario Party and we rocked at Just Dance!)
